About

Meet Dr Kellyn
Hi, I’m Dr Kellyn — Founder and CEO of Dr. Kellyn.

I am a Chartered Psychologist, academic and therapist with over two decades of experience in dementia research and clinical practice. I have authored multiple publications and designed, developed and implemented evidence-based programmes that have the potential to transform dementia care across home, hospital and care home settings.
My work focuses on two core aims: transforming the transition from home to care home, and ensuring that families and people living with dementia have access to meaningful, high-quality post-diagnostic support. I believe support should not begin at crisis point, but at diagnosis, and continue throughout the dementia journey.
I am the founder of a Hampshire-based dementia charity that provides post-diagnostic education, emotional support and practical guidance to families and individuals living with dementia. Through this work, I have successfully built community-based services that bridge the gap between diagnosis and long-term care, ensuring families feel informed, supported and less alone.

I want support to be available throughout the entire dementia journey, not just at the point of diagnosis or crisis, and not only for one person, but for everyone affected.
Trauma-Informed Practice
Dementia brings profound change, to identity, relationships and everyday life. Diagnosis, shifting family roles and transitions such as moving into a care home can feel overwhelming for everyone involved.
Our work is grounded in a trauma-informed approach that recognises these experiences as deeply emotional and relational, not just practical or clinical. We understand that behind every response is a human story shaped by past experiences, loss and adaptation. By prioritising psychological safety, compassion and collaboration, we support families and professionals to respond in ways that protect dignity, strengthen relationships and build resilience.
This approach enhances and enriches existing care, helping to shape a more humane, sustainable future for dementia support.

Our mission is that every person living with memory problems or who has a diagnosis, and their families, are informed and supported throughout their journey of dementia.
Our Values
1. Compassion
We are committed to fostering a compassionate understanding of dementia across society. Helping people apply compassion to people living with dementia but also educating carers on how to apply this to themselves in all care settings.
2. Hope
We believe that even in the presence of dementia, there will always be opportunities for connection, meaning, and improved quality of life. Our evidence-based approaches bring realism and practicality alongside optimism and hope. Acknowledging the challenges of the emotional journey while holding space for possibility or reducing avoidable distress.

3. Dignity
All training, resources, and interactions honour the personhood of people living with dementia, recognising them first and foremost as people, not diagnoses. People are at the heart of what we do; we actively listen and develop alongside the dementia communities.
4. Innovation
We are committed to innovation that is thoughtful, responsive, and grounded in evidence. We continually adapt and develop our approaches and offering by integrating emerging research, clinical insight, and lived experience. Innovation, for us, means finding better, more effective ways to support people living with dementia, their care partners and health and social care professionals while remaining practical, ethical, and centred on real-world needs.
